Graybar, a US-based electrical components distributor, needed to improve the flexibility and performance of price change requests (PCRs) submitted by suppliers who dictate their own list-price. These requests occur in a volume that is staggering to consider for most out-of-the-box solutions, roughly 20,000/day. Because of the frequency and volume of these changes, Graybar needed a cost-effective way to capture the process of “approval-routing” which leveraged the Graybar commitment to SAP® workflow and use of the portal in addition to the “mass-updates” which require a cascade of interdependent master data changes to the material and product masters. The new solution had to “span and connect” the complex infrastructure of SAP with the limited capabilities of the many small suppliers Graybar works with on a daily basis.
